How to clean and protect your garden furniture at the end of the sunny days?

Comment nettoyer et protéger son mobilier de jardin à la fin des beaux jours ?

Although it is designed for living outside, garden furniture is like us, it prefers sunny days!

So to prevent cold, frost or even humidity from damaging your beautiful furniture, here are some tips for taking care of it at the end of the sunny days and throughout the winter period.

1st step: clean and maintain

First of all, it is essential to clean your garden furniture thoroughly before storing it until the following spring. This will allow you to extend its lifespan and prevent the appearance of mold.

Whether it is wooden, woven resin or aluminum furniture, nothing could be simpler: Clean your garden furniture using a sponge soaked in soap and water. Then remember to rinse and dry your living room with a dry cloth to avoid mold and risk of damage.

Teak

Contrary to what one might think, Teak wood does not require special interview. Indeed, this material naturally resists the sun and bad weather.
Likewise, applying Teak oil is not a good idea to maintain your wood because it risks blackening it over time. Therefore, prefer to clean your furniture regularly with simply a cloth, water and soap.

This being said, you should know that Teak is a material that expands and “works” according to climatic conditions without altering its solidity or quality.

Aluminum

Nothing special to expect, aluminum is very easy to maintain.

Braided resin

As with other materials, a cloth with soap and water is enough to clean your furniture.

Step 2: Store or protect

Ideally, it is preferable to store your garden furniture in a dry place (e.g. garden sheds, garage, non-humid cellar) to avoid taking any risks and preserve your outdoor furniture as best as possible.

At the very least, we recommend storing cushions which are obviously more sensitive to cold and humidity than the structure of your furniture.

This being said, apart from the possible lack of space, it is not always so easy to move garden furniture which can be imposing.
If you don't have a place to store your furniture, it is important to have in mind the right reflexes to take care of your furniture.
We first advise you to invest in waterproof protective covers.
